The Beautify Decatur Coalition has created an exciting and hands-on curriculum for first graders focusing on the prevention of litter as well as how to pick up litter in our community. Becoming “litter pirates” presented in an engaging book (donated to that classroom), the kids get to wear safety vests and use grabbers to pick up litter scattered around the classroom. They each go home with a litter pirate hat and a car litter bag for their family. Both teachers and students love the lesson!
